About Me

I am Ren, a BACP-accredited psychotherapist and counsellor who trained in a relational-dynamic model at masters’ level at the University of Leeds. I am an integrative practitioner drawing on different theories and approaches to find the best fit for you.

My experience

I have worked with a wide range of presenting problems from relationship difficulties, health-related issues and loss to anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder, PTSD and borderline personality disorder, as well as neurodiversity in all its forms.

How I work

I use an integrative, relational approach, mixed with some coaching and creative methods. I believe that being honest, non-judgmental and accepting creates a space where growth and change can take place and that drawing on a range of different theories can help fit my approach around you. We could look at emotional responses, patterns of thinking, power, control, choice, what you might need, how an experience might be impacting on your life or help you focus on a specific issue or problem.

My Background

I come from an arts background, including study of fine art, 19th and 20th century visual art and literature and paid work for arts organisations over a 15-year period. I recently studied therapeutic art at post-graduate level and sometimes use art-based techniques in my therapeutic work. I still practice as an artist. I spent a decade supporting neurodiverse students and students experiencing mental health difficulties via mentoring and study skills.
